Proposed Campus Center Café

By Jennifer Lague

Has anyone noticed that there is currently not really much food to choose from on campus and a long line at the snack bar? Well, in a couple of months that is all about to change. There will be a new cafe built at Campus Center in the location of the old bookstore. The planned date for the opening of the revamped Seawolves’ Café is March 17th, 2014.

You will be able to chomp into some good solid food or just go light, as well as find options for the vegetarian or the meat eater. There will be three different menu options to choose from: pizza, sandwich and salad, and grill. The pizzas will be made to order along with breadsticks and dippers.  The dippers have cheese and pepperoni rolled and sliced in pizza dough and served with homemade marinara. There will be signature sandwiches with an option to make your own, Paninis, salads, and homemade soup. The grill will be serving local Pineland Farm burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, and chicken sandwiches in addition to tenders, french fries, and onion rings.  The beverages will consist of a Pepsi cooler with bottled sodas, juices, energy drinks. Fountain sodas and Green Mountain Coffee will also be available.

The decor will be similar in style and color to the new bookstore with seating for 50, as well as a high top bar that runs along the side of the seating area with plenty of outlets for laptops for those who want to study and eat. The porch in the front will also be renovated allowing for outdoor seating in the warmer months.

We now only have a small beverage and snack area in Campus Center but if we are all patient there is a great deal of enjoyment to look forward to in the warmer months ahead.  So, bundle up folks, and get yourself some gummi bears or a bagel and wait it out.
