Now that I have your attention; the library does indeed have Breaking
Bad, as well as other movies to loan out for FREE (okay, your tuition really
pays for it). Movies are not the only thing of value that the library offers to
an astute thinker such as yourself; oh no, it offers so much more. Ever
hear of a sweet little database called ProQuest, Ebsco Host, or MARVEL?
They’re little handy dandy reference tools for your research. They have an
enormous selection of newspaper, journal, and magazine publications;
accessible right at your fingertips.
SMCC’s Library Home page has something for (I kid you not)
everyone! It was designed to be as broad covering as possible. It has only
the most reputable sources, which truly tries to cover both sides of any
angle.
The super friendly Librarian Bryan Strniste said that, “it is available
to help students think critically.” It’s all about information literacy.
Whatever topic you want to research, whether for an assignment, or just
for personal knowledge, the Library Home page is just for you.
If you’re convinced of the awesomeness of this educational tool, but
don’t know how to access it; it’s really simple:
1. Log into mysmcc
2. Go to My Maine Guide
3. Select My Learning
4. Click on the Library icon
It is as easy as that. However, if you have any trouble getting to it,
there is an amazing team of librarians to help you. Just ask for Bryan,
Meghan, or Derek, and they will be more than glad to assist you. Bryan
Strniste said, “If there’s something that you can’t be found, I will help you
look till we find it”. Bryan also said (and he makes an excellent point),
“through your tuition, you pay for this program; you may as well use it.”
