The 2014 SMCC Enactus crew has successfully built a high-tech indoor grow room in the basement of the Culinary Arts building. We have two of the highest quality T5 lights on the market, and a ‘stealth grow’ house. We have the space to grow upwards of 80 plants at any point in time.
The crew has been growing since day one, and we are looking for more members to help now, and to take over the responsibilities of the board after the event next fall in Cincinnati.
Enactus or any club for that matter, is what you make it. When Sineah asked me to join, I was always one of those kids who was ‘too cool,’ for clubs, but, I wanted to help someone other than myself. I learned that clubs are actually not lame, a great way to meet people, and a great place to get valuable experience.
The greens from this club and garden will go towards less fortunate people who need and appreciate high quality and fresh produce. The garden will be able to create a consistent yield while maintaining costs and labor in the lowest possible margin. What I am really saying is, this is extremely easy, so come down to the Culinary Arts basement and check it out sometime.
