Student Interviews

By Taylor Chretien

Hello, my name is Tayler Chretien. This is my second year here at SMCC, I’m from Biddeford Maine, and my major is Business Administration. I was interested in writing for the beacon, because I wanted to try something new, and explore my options for career choices. I thought about becoming a journalist, and can now picture myself doing this for a living.

When thinking of what to write about, the first thing that came to mind was when I was a freshman. I remembered how excited and scared I was to be in, what felt like, a new world. So, I decided I would write about some of the freshmen and how they’re doing so far. I grabbed a pen and notebook and went around knocking on the Spring Point dorm room doors.

When someone answered, I would first ask them if they were freshmen. If they said yes, I began to ask these questions: Where they were from? What their major was? What their expectations were for the year? The responses I got were…..

Amira Jones is from Chicopee Massachusetts, she studies Liberal Arts, and she “hopes to do well in school, have fun and meet new people.”

Kendra Kagiliery from Kittery Maine is majoring in Radiography; she’s on the basketball team and her expectations are “to have a new experience and to do well in school.”

Brianna is from Phippsburg Maine, she is majoring in Electrical Engineering, and her endeavor for the year is “to get my work done.”

Catana Crana is from Lebanon Maine, she is also studying Electrical Engineering, and stated that she wants “to have fun and pass all classes at the same time.”

Thomas Cornell from Boothbay Maine is majoring in Liberal Arts.

He expects to “meet new friends, and learn new things.” He is taking photography classes and hopes to get involved on campus.

Hannah Cambell is from Wisconsin Maine, she is studying Liberal Arts, and her ambitions for the year are to “get good grades.”
