Back in 2011 the beloved Sci-Fi series Deus Ex made a resurgence after a long period of hiatus. Human Revolution (developed by Eidos Montreal) delivered a truly unique take on the dangers of technology merging with humanity.

Since then it has received critical acclaim from gaming news outlets and review sites. It didn’t take long for Eidos Montreal and Square Enix to realize that this was something that consumers wanted. After a mobile game titled The Fall and a Director’s Cut version of the game it wasn’t hard to assume that a follow up title would be developed for next generation consoles as well as PCs.

Mankind Divided seems to continue the same thematics in how far can technology can merge with humanity. An issue that could possibly arise in our lifetime. When do we stop being human? How far can our civilization go with with a constant field of rapid technical advancement? Human Revolution dealt with a constant narrative of religion versus science and the controversy it would ensue. It does appear from the promotional material that Mankind Divided could possibly be tackling the issue of police militarization and the possible corruption that may come with it. Whether it delivers on these topics is yet to be seen. However, the series has always done a remarkable job at handling sensitive subjects with grace.

Whether you’re into Sci-Fi, stealth, action, or a compelling narrative, consider picking up a copy of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided when it launches on August 23rd of this year.
