Southern Maine Community College is filled with a myriad of opportunities to further support a student’s ambition. Whether it be a passion in filmmaking, design, or writing, the campus is constantly looking to help students realize their full potential. The Beacon in particular is a perfect candidate for those aspiring to be writers of any sort.
Writing can be a tricky passion. It requires constant feedback and improvements. Without a solid foundation to express your content, it can be difficult to find your style or niche. What the Beacon does is help students to express themselves to their fellow students in college and the community at large.
The process of writing for the Beacon helps aspiring writers into a manageable work schedule, allowing the brain to exercise, depending on creativity with hopes to keep a reader engaged in the content. Not only does this put a writer’s mindset in a healthy environment to vent their emotions on a topic that they feel passionate for, it also allows the content to be available to an audience. Writing for a college newspaper is an incredible journey that adds a portfolio to a larger body of work, improving the possibilities of getting hired at a great job.
If anything, the members of the Beacon are constantly giving their best work, allowing writers to take chances that they wouldn’t normally take. If you’re even remotely interested in improving your craft, then the Beacon is the perfect place for you.
