This past Saturday brought us lots of action from the HUB in South Portland. The SMCC Women’s and Men’s each came up with victories over Paul Smith’s College; the Women’s team earned a 88-53 win, and the Men’s team concluded a 72-57 win. The women’s team started on fire from the jump and seemed to have trouble slowing down, with huge games from veteran players Tara Flanders and Ashleigh Mathisen. The Men’s team held a lead throughout most of the game, even when the game was within 5 points. Huge games from veteran Jack Pyzynski, scoring 26 and Desean Cromwell, scoring 16, led SMCC to the victory. These 2 wins now help SMCC advance to records of 12-4, for the women, and 14-4 for the men. The Seawolves played against Albany School of Pharmacy and Health Science on Saturday at the HUB. The women’s team rolled past with a huge win 90-32, and the men’s team closed out with a 56-50 win.
The Seawolves have an upcoming game on the 25th vs. University of Maine at Augusta. Games will be played at 6pm and 8pm. After the 25th, The Women’s team will face off in back to back action, gearing up against the Community College of Rhode Island on the 28th at 1pm, and the University of Maine at Fort Kent on the 29th at 1pm as well. The Men’s team will travel down on the road for a 2 game road trip against Army Prep the 28th at 1pm and then head to NHTI to play a night game at 8pm as we wrap up January.
