For any NFL fan that may be down at SMCC, we have got some new juicy NFL offseason rumors as Lamar Jackson as of yesterday via Twitter posted a long heartfelt tweet expressing himself and announcing that he had requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens and wants to play to “help contend to win a championship.”
Weeks prior, the Ravens used the non-exclusive franchise tag on the former MVP QB, giving him opportunities to negotiate with other teams. Despite the failure to restructure Jackson’s contract, Head Coach John Harbaugh still believes Jackson will be their starting quarterback come September.
Unfortunately for Coach Harbaugh, the star quarterback has gone public about his desire to take snaps elsewhere, which strikes the question everyone is wondering; where will he play next season? The Indianapolis Colts have been one of the first teams to strike their interest towards Jackson. Colts GM Chris Ballard would call Jackson a “special” type of player, the type of quarterback the Colts have been looking for ever since Andrew Luck’s retirement in 2019.
The Colts are desperately searching for a solid QB to fill in after underwhelming seasons from both former star quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Colts currently have Gardner Minshew, Nick Foles and another quarterback on their roster, so they would have to free up space for Jackson.
Another spreading rumor came from rapper Meek Mill, who called Robert Kraft, claiming Lamar Jackson wants to play in Foxborough, Massachusetts and under Coach Bill Belichick.
Robert Kraft responded by saying “That’s Bill’s [Belichick’s] decision.”
We will ultimately find out where Jackson lands or potentially stays within in the next few weeks or even months, but wherever he lands, it should be exciting.
