What is your job at SMCC and how long have you worked here?
I’m an evening cook Monday through Friday. I’ve been here for two years.
What brought you to SMCC?
Cooking was one of the three adult skills I had when I left my house. I think everybody should have at least three skills: a trade, something useful, and something they like.
How has working here affected you?
Your peers can be something to deal with, and I’m twice your age, so I’ve learned how to be patient.
What is the best thing about your job, or SMCC?
I like getting to make people laugh.
What is the worst thing about your job, or SMCC?
The food waste. We throw out a lot of food- prep cooking and all- and Preble Street is right over there. I wish we could donate it, you know?
Do you have any messages you want to send to SMCC as a staff member here?
Be nicer to each other. I think we forget we’re all countrymen because we’re from different states or places, but we should be nicer to each other.
