Welcome back, poets! Today we have a special spotlight on one of our very own Beaconers, Ex Badose! You may have seen her work throughout the semester, and we are so happy to have her join us in celebrating National Poetry Month! Enjoy the peek below, and happy reading!
I am Thorns and Petals
I am thorns and petals
I wonder if the sky can become soft with colored clouds
I hear the sound of time fleeting like the wind in a storm
I see God’s love in each flower which blossoms
I want to remember everything under the sun that fades
I am thorns and petals
I pretend life is a delicate and brightly colored garden
I feel the the sun shining down on me
I touch the rain showering my roots
I worry I will run out of time
I cry for flowers planted in dry soil
I am thorns and petals
I understand the soft touch of a loving hand on my petals
I say life is thorns and petals
I dream of angelic wings of majestic birds covering the sky
I try to be the right rose for you
I hope to find a place I will call home
I am thorns and petals
