On Sunday, August 24th, 202,5, Shilo Sanders’ NFL journey with the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers came to a screeching halt as he was waived by the team for throwing a punch at a player on the opposing team.
ESPN statement on Shilo being waived
This is extremely saddening for football fans because Shilo has shown great promise for his success in the NFL. This is just another setback for Shilo; he was faced with a similar situation in 2015 when he assaulted a teacher who tried to take his phone. Down the line, it greatly affected his draft stock, forcing him to not get drafted to the NFL in 2025.
Until the Buccaneers signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 26th, 2025, where he worked his way up to make the pre-season roster, until he was waived for throwing a punch at another player; however, one could argue that it was justified considering the situation, but that’s neither here nor there. If there’s one thing this has taught everyone about Shilo, it’s that he does not know how to quit, and he will bounce back. NFL or not, there’s no denying Shilo’s talent and work ethic.
Even through all the darkness, this young star’s future still remains bright.
