Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief, is Trump’s right-hand man for issues such as trade, education, economy, social policy, foreign policy, public safety, and homeland security. Gave a speech on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Stephen Miller stood before 90,000 people and delivered one of the most controversial speeches in a fragile political era in the history of U.S. democracy.
The speech, which contains words such as “The Storm is Coming,” spreads a white nationalist view. The same phrase can also be compared to Joseph Goebbels, nazi leader Adolf Hitler’s propaganda chief. Goebbels gave a speech declaring war on those who disagreed with nazi ideologies. Miller, who stated that “The day that Charlie died, the angels wept. But those tears had been turned into fire in our hearts. And that fire burns with a righteous fury that our enemies cannot comprehend or understand”. Declaring war against those who don’t share Republican ideologies and pointing a finger at the left wing.
Stephen Miller’s speech is neither inclusive nor democratic. As a deputy chief, he really paints a clear picture of what the Republican Party stands for and what their core beliefs are. Not to say that those beliefs are Nazis, however, they are also not progressive. The speech has spread a concern for the state of democracy in this country, and also raises the question. What kind of America are we trying to build?
