In last week’s episode of Peacemaker, James Gunn did not lie – it was the biggest episode of the entire season so far! Huge cameos, the most emotional acting yet seen in the series, and the worst of the worst theories are confirmed!

Twisted Comic Theory Revealed: Throughout the season, many have speculated with leaks and rumors that this “other world” is not as great as Peacemaker (John Cena) really believes it is. This was only heightened when fans noticed in the background that there were no people of color. This Earth is referred to as Earth-X in the comics, an Earth where Germany won WWII. This theory is officially confirmed in this episode when Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) goes out for a walk and is subsequently chased by everyone in the alternate universe in Peacemakers’ neighborhood. It also serves as a callback when Adebayo told Peacemaker that “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side”. Will Peacemaker and the gang escape that evil alternate earth?

Harcourt Loves Peacemaker!? During the chaos happening with Adebayo, Harcourt meets Keith (David Denman), Peacemaker’s brother, who is alive and well in his forties in Earth-X. In Peacemaker’s original world, Keith passed away when he was young. It’s shocking for members of the original universe to see him alive. Keith meets our Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), who’s wearing typical all black in Harcourt style; however, Earth-X Harcourt has never seen this, and Keith clocks it immediately. However, Harcourt gets a ride to Argus with Keith to find Peacemaker. When they arrive, Harcourt is stopped and brought in for questioning after a run-in with a police dog. This is when Harcourt and Peacemaker share their moment. Peacemaker wants to know if he means anything to Harcourt; deep down, she does feel for him and has love for him, but she is confident in herself and her problems. Peacemaker maintains he loves her regardless, in an emotionally surreal moment which fully tugs on fans’ heartstrings.

Lex Luthor Cameo Explained: In a shocking moment in this episode, Rick Flagg Sr. (Frank Grillo) goes to Belle Reeve and meets Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). This is the first time we have seen Luthor since the end of Superman. Peacemaker revealed that Luthor had been sent to 265 years in prison. Nonetheless, Flagg needs a genius who can deal with meta-humans, and he offers Lex a chance at ‘redemption’. Luthor requests to be transferred to another prison with no meta-humans. This will likely set up Luthor to be in power once again for Man of Tomorrow, the next movie that includes both Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet’s Superman. Peacemakers’ pace has been electric and will only continue to grow from here.
The season finale of Peacemaker, season 2, episode 8 airs Thursday, October 9.
