On Oct 25, the city of Lewiston, Maine, honored the second anniversary of the 2023 mass shooting that took the lives of 18 individuals. A memorial service was held on the Lewiston side of the longly bridge by the One Lewiston organization. The Lewiston Colisee also held a charity Cornhole tournament to raise funds for the families of the victims
The shooting occurred on October 25, 2023, at a bar and a bowling alley, killing 18 individuals, and was the worst mass shooting in Maine’s history. In the aftermath, it was discovered that the shooter was Robert Card, an Army reservist who was reported to have been hearing voices.
Maine politicians speak on the anniversary

Maine Governor Janet Mills (D-ME) said in a statement to the public, “As we mourn and pay tribute to those we lost two years ago, I hope all Maine people will support the victims’ loved ones and all those who were injured by showing the love that we have in our hearts for each other.”
Maine Congressman Jared Golden (D-ME), who represents Maine’s second district, where the shooting occurred, said in a statement on X, “It’s hard to believe two years have passed since the mass shooting in Lewiston. Today, our sense of loss — for our community, our state, and especially for those 18 sorely missed neighbors — still feels raw. But today is also a reminder of how Mainers respond to hardship. Our community was hurting together, and the entire state has spent the last two years helping us heal together. For that, I am grateful. And at a time when most of us are often searching for it, it also gives me hope.”
