Donald Trump: The Beating of the Deadest Horse in Journalism

Noah Williams

All forms of media are a virtual Pandora’s Box of empty and unimportant reporting about the one and only Donald J. Trump. His name is inescapable on social media, print publications, pop-up adds, Saturday Night Live! online news outlets, and those exceptionally offensive campaign sings, branded with the claim to make America  great again.

First of all, “America” encompasses Canada, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, and a whole host of other countries found in Central and South America, as well as our compatriots in North America.

But more importantly, who cares? Why do we fixate so heavily on something that we’ve already seen over and over again?

Recently, Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) claims that Donald Trump is a roll model for children, yet still refuses to endorse him, saying that she and the nominee “have disagreements.” Shortly after making the statement, Senator Ayotte walked back her comment stating, “I misspoke tonight,” Ayotte wrote in a statement. “While I would hope all of our children would aspire to be president, neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton have set a good example and I wouldn’t hold up either of them as role models for my kids.”

Thank god this woman has enough of a spine (and enough of a brain) to withhold her support for “The Boondoggle” without meekly climbing to the podium to eat crow like so many other Republicans have had to do this year.

As far as the role model statement, if there was ever an affirmation that anybody could in fact be the president of the United States, than people working with troubled youth all across the nation have found their most perfect example.

But so what? Politicians lie regularly, and many of us avoid saying what we really believe to avoid explosive conflict during Thanksgiving or any other time we’ve got to play nice with the family.

The mainstream media has done a wonderful job demonstrating why Donnie shouldn’t be president, yet like all jackals who make their living off from sensationalism, they just can’t seem to resist reminding us. It is our own reaction to being so easily flustered, yet not quite enough to do anything, which gives “the trump situation” meaning.

We get it. He’s unstable, rude, and orange. Tell us about the Sioux at Standing rock already, or better yet just don’t tell us anything at all.

The more we speak of Trump, the more we hunger for sensationalist news stories about how bad someone else is, the more we feed the gluttonous grunting beast that is this bloated sideshow of an election year.

If this resonates with you, then lets agree to never speak of the swine in mans clothing until it’s safe to look back and laugh about how silly we all were, believing that for one small moment in history, a dried up old orange man with small dog impersonating his hair could ever have been president.
