Released in 1980 in the United States the technological marvel the Walkman wasn’t so much invented by Sony as it was crafted by their divine hands. Little did we know at the time that this was the greatest portable music player to ever grace humanity’s existence, even rivaling current portable music playing devices. Along with the breathtaking ability to play the finest audio cassette tapes available to the public, the Walkman boasted an impressively low battery drain for only needing one AA battery. For even less battery drain, instead of rewinding the tape in the Walkman, take it out of the payer and manually rewind with a pencil.

A Feature that came standard with this heaven sent device was ability to record your own voice over the music via a built in microphone. As amazing as putting your own lyrics over your favorite songs is, the Walkman had an even more jaw dropping, stupefying and flabbergasting feature: it had two headphone jacks. You could listen to your favorite album with a friend or a complete stranger on the bus! Something the iPhone 7 has bravely made an homage to by removing their only headphone jack.

With something as impressive as the Walkman there are bound to be knockoffs to prey upon the innocent with their cheaper price and similar quality. One knockoff was so stricken with inspiration from the magical music player that it released years before the Walkman. This shows that if you own a Walkman, your presence will echo throughout all of time and space, a hidden feature to reward early adopters. Pick up your very own Walkman today and harness its mystical powers!
