The Beacon would like to welcome Emily Bruey to SMCC as part of the Jobs for Maine Graduates (JMG) program. Emily will be working closely with Carlo Bufano as a College Success Specialist helping JMG students transition to and be successful at SMCC. Emily was offered the position after the hiring process was completed during winter break and started at SMCC in January.
When asked how Emily’s first semester at SMCC has panned out, she responded, “I’ve served as JMG College Success Specialist for just over a month now, and in this short period of time, I’ve found SMCC to be an incredibly welcoming and supportive environment. Faculty, staff, and even students have been more than willing to answer the many, many questions I’ve asked of them. I’m glad to be a part of a school that is so community-oriented and student-centered.”
Most recently Emily supported, advised and instructed students at Bunker Hill Community College as an English Learning Specialist. Bruey earned a B.A. in English at University of Connecticut, and an M.A. in English at University of Massachusetts Boston.
Emily and Carlo’s offices are located on the first floor of the Campus Center, to the left of the main entrance after you walk in the Campus Center. Both Bruey and Bufano work in concert and under the umbrella of the Advising Office.
