Students and faculty gathered in front of the Campus Center in remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001. The ceremony began with Amy Lainoff, VA Certifying Official, talking about her experience with 9/11 and reminding the audience how the spirit of patriotism and remembrance should be year round and not just when life is bad.
The President of SMCC, Joe Cassidy, stood up and said a few words as well. Afterwards, the American flag was lowered to half staff while a veteran and SMCC alumni played the bugle. The ceremony ended with a moment of silence in respect of the fallen heroes.
