Eyes

by Celina Simmons

She knew what it meant to go to sleep.
She knew if she closed her eyes,
All she would see is him.
And she understands now
Why some can’t look another in the eyes.
Because when eyes yell truth
louder than mouths speak lies,
Her words never tasted
As sweet as mine.
