I was showing my friend a great resource for scholarship applications the other day, and I came across so much more than scholarships. If you haven’t heard about iGrad, you’re missing out on an amazing resource SMCC is offering.
iGrad is essentially a money management tool for students with links to scholarships, loans, and job opportunities. While waiting for my friend to get her computer set up, I noticed a tab at the top called “COVID-19.” I clicked it and found a seemingly never-ending list of articles on ways you can handle your money smart during this quarantine.
You can access iGrad through the MySMCC Student Portal. Go to My Main Guide, then click on “My Money.” After that, you should be directed to a new page and you can find the iGrad link underneath Financial Aid.
I want to tell you about some of the articles that caught my eye on this page, and I will link each of them here for you to check out! The first was ‘Budget-Friendly Activities for Staying at Home During the COVID-19 Pandemic’. Although I have more than enough homework to keep me busy, I’m still looking for other ways to occupy my time. Thanks to this article, I now know that I could be watching a FREE live concert online.
The next article that I found interesting was ‘What Should You Do With Your Stimulus Check?’. Thankfully, I was able to qualify for one of those stimulus checks and frankly, I’m not really sure what to do with it other than save it. This article does a really great job breaking down the CARES Act bill that was recently passed in Congress “fighting the economic impacts of COVID-19,” and also talks about good pointers on how to use the stimulus payments.
There are a lot more articles that may be more specific to your own situation and I highly recommend checking them out. Even outside of the pandemic-related articles, iGrad has been extremely helpful for me with scholarships and budgeting my money. I’m just hoping my transfer school offers iGrad!
