Pandemic Positives

Right now the pandemic is a subject that no one wants to bring up, and we might all wish that the pandemic never happened. But we can’t just change something because we want to; that’s not how it works. Granted, something must change, but that change will come from within because the one thing we can truly change is ourselves.

We may be stuck at home, but this strife has got us thinking of all those different skills we never even got to try or think about. Some examples for new-found skills are cooking, cleaning, or sewing. Now we can try some of these skills because most of the population is at home. A job change is a whole other story. The jobs that the people want may not even be open, let alone taking in new employees. The virus has caused jobs like small businesses, entertainment businesses, and transportation workers. We have to think outside of the box about where new, potential work might be.

Also, people are really missing out on socializing and seeing friends, but now we can’t do that. Although most of us don’t see our friends, we still are able to socialize in these different jobs. We meet all these unusual people that we might not have met before the pandemic. Who knows, maybe we have already found new friends. People are all so focused on just the pandemic that they aren’t seeing the other side. Some people might be glad that they are back with their families as they have been away from them. Others not so much, perhaps, but that is okay because maybe we have jobs that can keep us socialized while we are fighting this pandemic or we have roommates to keep us company. If you don’t have any of that, well maybe it would be a good time to get a pet fish. If you are stuck with your family and you don’t have a great relationship with them, maybe it’s a good time to build that family relationship that you did not have in the beginning. You see, if the pandemic weren’t here, we wouldn’t have met these people, learned a new skill, or had an entirely different job experience.

It is sometimes difficult to be positive, but negativity isn’t good for a person’s mind because it affects others and makes everyone sour. What we should be thinking of is positivity. Sometimes, you don’t know where you will go or what you will find, but that is the adventure, so go find it.

  1. Hey Alex!

Loved your story! The very last line is inspirational! Sometimes, you don’t know where you will go or what you will find, but that is the adventure, so go find it.

That is a charge we should all strive for- life is very short.

    Great job!
