
Desserts and pastries are a staple for the upcoming holiday season and whether it’s cakes, cookies, or pies this recipe is sure to make a good impression for any of the occasions. This recipe is for a chocolate cake and serves around 10 people. Optionally you could add shaved chocolate to the top for decoration.
Ingredients
2 cups confectioners sugar
1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup black coffee
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
Frosting
3 TB butter & cocoa
1 tsp water & coffee flavored liqueur
1 ½ cup powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven and prepare a pan
- Mix sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
- Add eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil, and vanilla extract then beat at medium speed for two minutes
- pour into pan, bake for 35 minutes
For the frosting
In a saucepan at low heat melt butter and stir in cocoa, water, and liqueur then remove from heat, gradually add powdered sugar till it reaches desired texture.
