It’s winter, which means it would be appropriate to share a recipe to help fulfill this snowy season! A warm treat, perhaps? Of course – I will be sharing one of my favorite recipes, one I even have used myself before – a pumpkin pie recipe. Pumpkin pie is a beloved winter dessert that’s guaranteed a winter treat for anyone who is satisfied by the scrumptious pumpkin.
Step 1: Ingredients
You will need to get together all the ingredients for this recipe, which include the following:
- 2-3 chicken eggs
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 chicken egg yolk (no whites)
- ⅓ cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- 2 ½ cups pumpkin purée
The crust is also essential for this recipe. You can either make it or buy one of your choosing at the store. Either way, the crust should be frozen and then chilled. If you choose to make your own crust, see this article to a crust I have prepared before.
Step 2: Preparation
Your overall prep time should accumulate to 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees before you start for better results. While waiting for your oven to preheat, whisk the heavy cream, eggs, egg yolk, salt, and other ingredients in a medium-sized bowl until the contents appear soft. Before this, you should have had your crust frozen and thoroughly chilled by now.
Step 3: Cooking
Once the oven is preheated and your ingredients have been successfully whisked together, pour the contents into your pie crust. Once the contents are evenly layered, place your pie into the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 350° Fahrenheit. Let the pie bake for 35-40 minutes. To know whether your pie is done or not, poke it with a knife one inch from the crust — if it comes out mostly clean, then it’s ready.
Step 4: Finalization
Make sure you have cleaned your workspace. If you cleaned your dishes while waiting for the pie to bake, you won’t have to do it later. Take out your pie and let it cool for about 20 minutes (it is preferred you leave it outside to cool faster — just don’t forget about it). Now, enjoy your pumpkin pie with a topping of whipped cream and cinnamon, and have a second slice if you don’t feel fulfilled.
