Blake Orchard is a well-known upscale juicery located at 561 Forest Avenue in Portland. Founded back in 2014 by then-22-year-old college student Alli, what started as a simple farmers markets has blossomed into a successful brand for this entrepreneur and ‘boss babe mama,’ as she refers to herself. While at first glance their prices may unnerve most customers, if you delve deeper into their establishment it is clear that consumers are purchasing quality, fresh ingredients with endless health benefits. The owner herself says that she founded Blake Orchard in order to help others struggling with digestive or dietary issues using nutritious, plant based options that will improve both mental and physical health.
In my first experience at Blake Orchard, I tried the ‘Summer Bowl’ for $14.50; which I’d describe as having a sweet, strawberry/apple/blueberry tasting base. I was surprised to see that it had so many toppings to pair with the bowl, such as fresh strawberries, pineapple, bee pollen, shredded coconut and honey for the base order. On top of this, you can add any of their toppings for an extra charge of $1-2. Not one of their ingredients taste artificial in any way, and the open kitchen shows that they truly do make all of their products to order. Each time I have picked up an order at the estimated time, which typically has a ready time of 10-15 minutes, my food has been ready to go without issue.

As for smoothies, I’ve had the ‘Blueberry Milkshake’, ‘Raw Protein’ and ‘Lemon Bar’. Each of these smoothies are $11, with their most expensive smoothie rolling in at $13. The ‘Lemon Bar’ was by far my favorite. I could taste both a sweet lemon flavor, and notes of lemon zest, and each spoonful left me feeling full until the next meal, which is something I can’t say for a typical smoothie. For this reason, I do believe that their products are worth their prices as they use fresh, wholesome ingredients and they leave you feeling full and energized. Something to keep in mind is that the smoothies are one size only, and look like a small-medium sized drink.
Located on the easily accessible Forest Avenue just outside of downtown, they are certainly easy to find. On top of this, they have free parking on Coyle Street behind the store, which is a major plus for any shop in Portland. Street parking is also offered in front of the shop, and has a 1-hour limit. Free parking makes a big difference when you are looking to stick around for a study session or didn’t order ahead, and this place is a great spot to get some homework done or meet up with friends. The lobby space is plenty big with seating options from bar seats, booths and tables for all types of groups.
It can be a little noisy with the blenders and grinders going in the kitchen, so I’d recommend headphones or earbuds if you don’t appreciate background noise. Although to some, this is the perfect place to crank out your homework with the ‘bustling cafe aesthetic’ in the background.
Blake Orchard gives the vibe of a small local shop along with the professionalism and sleek aesthetics of a well-established business. They have kind and courteous employees that stay true to their brand standards with a clean and well decorated shop that’s tidy, modern and welcoming. Overall, Blake Orchard is a great place to visit if you are looking for a healthy breakfast or lunch to pick you up! Hopefully, you’ll find yourself back there often- to study, explore the menu, or catch up with friends over a fresh smoothie.
