On September, 29th the Maine CDC reported 867 new cases of COVID 19, which surpassed the previous record of 824 which was set on January 13, 2021. We as a society should ask ourselves why we are seeing a dramatic increase in cases after a downward trend in new cases. huge fall. It is easy to assume that many in influential positions have been saying and continue to say that the pandemic is ebbing and is on the way out.
Numerous articles which may play looser with research documentation have reported that the pandemic is on its way out the door. A google search will show hundreds of articles saying that the virus is almost over or is over. This misinformation is playing a role in how people are dealing with the virus. As people are carefree with masks or getting the vaccine this may be the reason why we had 867 new cases on top of 88,197 other cases. Research has shown wearing a mask and getting the vaccine can help stop the spread of COVID 19 in the greater community and in your family. Currently this looks like the best way to get back to a more recognizable normal.
For now stay safe, get your vaccines if you can and haven’t already, and if you haven’t been wearing your masks please consider wearing one and I’ll write more next week.
