Elora Griswold grew up in a family of women from whom she learned to be independent and opinionated, and this developed into a passion for investigative journalism and film. Her primary interests include writing and producing documentary films on issues surrounding local politics, crime, and cases of gender-based discrimination across the media industry. She is currently an undergraduate student at Southern Maine Community College who is majoring in Communications and New Media with plans to transfer to a four-year program upon graduation. She is excited to take on the role of editing the local politics section at the SMCC Beacon to develop her journalistic skills further and familiarize herself with the ins and outs of operating a publication.
In addition to pursuing journalism, Elora offers freelance wedding photography and videography for Maine locals. She spends most of her free time hiking with her fiance, playing guitar, and caring for her cat Momo Prasad.
Elora welcomes students and faculty to reach out with suggestions for articles– you can reach her via email at eloraagriswold@smccme.edu or on Instagram at @elora.abigail.
