De-Stress During Finals

It may be hard to believe, but the fall semester is already coming to a close. That also means that finals week is coming up. This is one of the most stressful weeks of the semester for many students. Professors often throw last-minute assignments along with tests, projects, and huge papers. During this week it is essential to remember there are many ways to relax. The best part is, some of these things you can do while studying!

  1. Take Breaks – You may have a lot of assignments and studying to do, however that does not mean you should be doing it all without taking breaks. Taking breaks helps give your mind a rest and will actually allow you to do better the next time you study.
  2. Watch your favorite show – Watching an episode of your favorite show is a great way to take your mind off things and make you feel happy for a little while. Some shows I would recommend include: “The Office”, “Trailer Park Boys”, and “Shameless”.
  3. Spend time with family and friends – Studying alone in your room or wherever you study can be exhausting. Spending some time socializing is a great way to de-stress yourself
  4. Go on a walk – There are many studies that show nature is a great natural way to destress yourself. Take a few minutes to go on a walk and get some fresh air.
  5. Treat yourself – After studying for a few hours you deserve a treat. Take a few minutes and enjoy your favorite snack or drink. Doing this will also motivate you to study more and get another reward.
  6. Stay Organized – Staying organized is one of the best things you can do for yourself. It will make life a lot easier when studying, and doing quizzes and tests. Some things you could do: keep a planner, write down deadlines, and make a schedule for studying. You can even include planned break times.

I hope you found some of these tips helpful. But most importantly, I want you to remember that you are not alone and it will all be okay. After this week you get a long break and get some time to spend with family and friends.
