On Monday night Vermont state senator Bernie Sanders rallied in Portland for his Fight Oligarchy tour. Joined by senate hopeful Graham Platner and candidate for governor Troy Jackson, the three discussed the problems facing Mainers and the country at large. The speeches included the topics of healthcare, affordable housing, education, egregious wealth inequality, and other politicians being bought by corporate interests instead of the interests of working class families.

Other speakers included co-president of the Maine State Nurses association Kelly Bryan and anti-war activist Bill Jefferson. Bryan emphasized the importance of changing our healthcare system to a single payer, medicare for all system while Jefferson spoke about the lack of quality care for veterans.

Meanwhile Susan Collins went to Searsmont to observe memorial day taking photos with citizens and veterans. In a now deleted post on Twitter/X, Collins was seen posing with an alleged paramilitary group called the Maine Militia who have made antisemitic comments as well as comments insulting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and MAGA.
