Resident of Maine and ex-partner to senate candidate Graham Platner, Jenny Racicot as of yesterday accused the senate hopeful of an incident of sexual assault and rape 5 years ago in 2021. According to a Politico interview with Racicot, “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice.’” She also added a reason for not stepping forward sooner was that she agrees with Platners general message and campaign promises adding, “One of the reasons I didn’t come forward sooner was, the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics but not supporting him as a person.”

Since these allegations dropped many who once supported Platner have receded their endorsements such as Congressman Ro Khanna posting on X/Twitter “I’ve been very clear that sexual assault or violence against women is a red line. These allegations are very serious and credible. Graham Platner should drop out from the race. I am withdrawing my endorsement.”

Many advocates online are already looking for his replacement in Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) endorsed Troy Jackson who recently lost his gubernatorial primary race to Hannah Pingree. Pingree even adding her own comment by saying, “Graham Platner tapped into something real-voters hungry for change showed up with real passion and energy. That energy doesn’t have to go away. It needs a new candidate to carry it forward.” A poll from Wedgewood on X/Twitter shows that Platner is now losing to Collins by 4 points while Jackson is up by 5 points.
