Portfolio Day at MECA&D

Job interviews and presentations can cause anxiety for many. For me, it was Portfolio Day at the Maine College of Art and Design (MECA&D). I am a Communications and New Media major, and it is my last semester at SMCC. Communications and New Media students are required to take a class called senior portfolio in their final semester. Senior portfolio covers the production of an effective portfolio displaying the specific skills of each student, and the skills required to move forward in a career. On April 13th, several other Communications and New Media students and I had the opportunity to showcase our portfolios at MECA&D.

The Writers’ Strike and How It’s Affecting the Entertainment Industry

Have you wondered why television channels are not playing a new episode of your favorite show? The recent writers’ strike is the reason behind this. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is currently on strike in California and New York. Thousands of WGA writers have been out on picket lines, chanting and waving signs outside studios. Citizens are standing in unity with the writers and have even blocked production sets.

Taylor Swift Fans Take Ticketmaster to Court

Are you a Taylor Swift fan, and did you try to purchase tickets for her recent tour? Well, you are not the only one. In November, millions of fans were trying to purchase tickets to Swift’s “The Eras Tour” on Ticketmaster’s website. Technical difficulties prevented many fans from purchasing tickets. Disgruntled fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, over the ticketing debacle.
